I appreciate explaining the risks but I think the situation in which the $5/hr operate in is a little exaggerated. I’ve worked with many teams who were charging very low and I also was one couple years ago, I agree that they were junior but their passports are not held nor they’re personally exploited.
Especially if you look at the living expenses in developing countries like India, $5/hr equals to Rupees 300/hr which equals to a monthly salary of Rupees 48,000/month. If the developer is living in city like Hyderabad, Rupees 48,000/month is not underpay. It’s give more than a comfortable life for a single person.
