Top designer brand styles Indian Contingent to glory

The Rio Olympic Games 2016 kicked off on 5th August 2016 with a magnificent Opening Ceremony at the Maracana.

During the Parade of Nations, athletes and officials from all the 207 participating countries marched in the Maracana Stadium preceded by their flag and flag-bearer. The athletes and officials of each country marched out dressed vibrantly and confidently and although there were some countries that could’ve done better with their attire, there were absolutely no complaints with the attire of the Indian Contingent. With the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) announcing leading luxury fashion brand Study by Janak as its Official Styling Partner for the 2016 Indian Olympic Team, expectations were high. Although many people including a few of the women athletes didn’t want the women contingent to wear blazers over saree’s, You can’t blame the designer — Study by Janak, as it’s the Indian Olympic Association who briefs them and issues guidelines. “If given a free hand, we had thousands of designs in mind. For men something more Indo-western, bandhgala type,” says Abhishek Duggal of Study by Janak.
