An Open Letter to Undergraduates on realizing their true potential & building meaningful career
Dear Students,
This is regarding my post in the group “PrepEdge for MBA”https://www.linkedin.com/groups/6973041 for the online workshop on “Roadmap to IIMs / Ivy League”. As we’re trying to make this workshop a path breaking moment for the potential candidates, we got to exchange some ideas with you guys. For that matter, before I invite you to attend this workshop, I would like to share the broad objective and the outline of the workshop’s subject matter. This is important to share with you as you’ll be able to align your career objective with our broad vision and this will help you to relate with the subject matter to be discussed in the workshop.
The broad objective: The clear objective of this workshop is to give you a choice. Our long experience in academia suggests that you may end up with the choice of your company to work with. But just couple of years down the line, you’ll enquire within that if this is what you wanted to achieve! In that scenario, we can foresee a clear goal with a well defined roadmap to make your journey fulfilling and successful. Having said that, I don’t mean that you should not select the company of your choice after graduation. Rather, I would strongly suggest and wish you to grab the opportunity to work with the companies till you get to learn the best and gain rich experience.
The concern that I wish to convey here is based on our observations and study, revealing some startling facts. And the facts reveal that despite having the immense potential in our graduates from top technical institutions, the majority of our graduates end up with the mediocre career path. While what we expect from you guys in the long run, is to prove yourselves as top level Innovators in the field of Technology/Management or be some disruptive entrepreneurs who could capitalize on the positive wave, the world economy is riding on.
Having said that now let me tell you to your surprise that it’s perfectly fine if you don’t get in to IIMs/Harvard/MIT and still prove yourself on the given parameters. As I mentioned above, you must grab the opportunity to work with the desirably best companies to gain the best learning and experience. However, a very few candidates end up with this lucky chance and the rest remains underutilized. Therefore, as per our objective, we intend to lay a clear roadmap to let you guys to end up with your choice rather than with any random chance to realize your potential. And this choice, you can only have when you land into some centers of excellence like IIMs/Ivy League where you groom yourself for the best job around the globe.
Empirically, we estimate that you guys must have spotted your traits in terms of your potential till your penultimate year. On that note, I am quite sure you must have made up your mind in terms of choosing your career path as well. Then what subject matter we’re going to discuss with you guys in the workshop! Before I point out the outlines of the workshop, let me finally tell you the main objective of this virtual meeting. In nut shell, it’s all about removing the bottlenecks that restrict you to think of the best chances to get into these institutions.
The Outlines of the Subject Matter: The workshop’s subject matter will address the challenges that you feel when you think of going about it.
- How to get fund/scholarship to finance your education.
- How to secure high scores in CAT/GMAT ( Thorough strategy to be discussed)
- How and when to target and apply for these Institutions.(Individual institutional criteria to be discussed)
I would like to know your response on this, in terms of how this will help you to achieve your career goal, before I announce the date for the workshop. Feel free to put forth your related concerns.
All the best!
