Alipay Expands the Australian Market by Increasing the Number of Tourists to Australia

As increasing more Chinese tourists travel to Australia, the Chinese mobile payment giant, Alipay hopes to expand its business in Australia with this momentum.

Alipay Australia chief executive George Lawson said on the 1st: “In 2016, more than 1 million Chinese tourists came to Australia and spent almost 10 billion Australian dollars. In 2026, more than 3 million Chinese tourists are expected to come to Australia an will spend more than 13 billion. “

He said that, it is soaring to around 6,400 merchants who accept Alipay QR code payment from 1000 earlier this year with the Alipay into the Australian market. Lawson said that Alipay is negotiating with other Australian banks and financial institutions, merchants and even POS machine manufacturers.
