Booking an international flight experience for the first-time international traveler.

Traveling by air is always an awesome experience. International air travel is an expensive affair for most Indians and there is a lot of anxiety around getting it right first time.
In today’s mobile first world, we value speed and simplicity, so it is very important to have a good App for Booking International flight to save time and money.

My design approach

Goal-directed Design

Developing a deep understanding people’s Goals, and creating experiences match those.

So what people wanted to achieve?

Being able to quickly narrow down on the best-value flight.

Compare itineraries to choose the best one that meets his interest ( Such as all the different transit options available, total flight time, layover time, departure & arrival times, amenities available at airport, airline reviews,

Stay within a tight budget

Find the most competitive price (meal options, seat options (including paid upgrades), luggage restrictions and possibly multiple fares for the same flight with different amenities (e.g.. Basic Fare without baggage, Basic Fare with baggage, Fare with enhanced baggage allowance, etc.)

How they want to feel when they achieve it?

User should feel like their product genuinely design for them.

Genuinely design for me. via (https://gph.is/2ory7Tm)

My Process

Understand. Envision. Prototype

Understand Phase
1. Who is it for?
2. What are their goals?
3. What range of experience do you want them to have?
4. How frequently they fly
5. How far they travel
6. How they conduct their check-in
7. Pleasure vs. business travelers

Who is it for? ( Targeted User and User Personas)

1. Ranjit, Age 35 yrs
First time international traveler

“I expect the itineraries and price comparison information to be available to me upfront before having to provide my personal information.” — Ranjit

2. Sara, Age 29 yrs

Domestic Traveler but 1st time internal traveling

“ It really made me upset, if I can’t book quickly and safely” — Sara

2. What are their goals?

What all I consider regarding the user that they will never book their internal flight for the first time.

On their way to the airport

Some others in the middle of a business meeting

While seeing a movie in Theater.

User journey / flow

Based on the above users and their personas, I designed the journey for “This App” for first time international traveler persona. I focused on a linear and clean journey without too many competing distractions.
