It’s Time for Cities to Talk About Abandoning Meat

I am feeling surprised by reading some of these comments. Some of us grew up in a vegetarian culture, and so the idea of abandoning meat poses no problems for us at all. Our own challenge is subbing for dairy, and the wide acceptance of plant-based milks is making that very easy.

I am troubled that so many people are so attached to eating meat, but after decades of eating 3–4 meat meals every day, it is not surprising that people will not know what else to eat. I have become more sympathetic to this, and I work on helping people eating more healthily, empowering them to eat plant-based meals, teaching them new recipes for satisfying vegan food.

A large variety of resources for plant-based eating are available on the internet. And many Americans who grew up in the same meat-centric culture are forging a new path for themselves.
