Why? Speaking as a scientist and a vegetarian, I don’t understand your reasoning.

Evolutionary scientists, like those educated me and influenced me (Marion Stamp, Richard Dawkins, others of that ilk) hold that humans are “successful” precisely because we have proliferated and taken over this planet. We have done this by force, subjugating plants (agriculture), animals (domestication) and other humans sometimes (e.g., slavery and other types that continue today). The “evolutionary success” argument rests on the basis of this — we are successful because we managed to beat out other aspects of nature.
So is that is what is meant by “might makes right.”
Conversely, what makes ‘right’ is to live harmoniously with nature, not killing off vast, VAST numbers of other species, destroying the environment and jeopardizing the whole planet not just for ourselves for most other species.
