Image made up by me & Lila…Everything (blue) emenates from Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, including other experiencers (ie. us — in yellow) as well as the material world (a VR kind of setup comprised of three qualities — sattva (green), rajas (red) & tamas (brown) — interacting to provide unlimited experiences for us little Krishna wanabees).

Krishna makes a big claim to Arjuna in (BG 10.8):

I am the source of all spiritual and material worlds. Everything emanates from Me. The wise who perfectly know this engage in My devotional service and worship Me with all their hearts.

And so, Krishna is not claiming to be “a” god, or even “The” God. Rather, He is everything, or to put in His own words (BG 7.7):

O conqueror of wealth, there is no truth superior to Me. Everything rests upon Me, as pearls are strung on a thread.

We can shine our intention directly upon Krishna and therefore (since He is the ultimate Object) experience our true being (sat), knowing (cit) and bliss (ananda). Or, we are welcome to take interest in Krishna’s illusory energy, which is akin to us sitting in a VR and taking on various avatars in an attempt to enjoy in different ways — be it via tree-ness, ant-ness, dog-ness or human-ness.

After so long in the VR world, I for one find it embarrassingly difficult to accept that the solution to relieving my suffering could be so simple — namely, to accept that who I am is a lover of God. Red, Heywood & Ernie from The Shawshank Redemption say it better than I can:

Red : These walls are funny. First you hate ’em, then you get used to ’em. Enough time passes, you get so you depend on them. That’s institutionalized.

Heywood : Shit. I could never get like that.

Ernie : Oh yeah? Say that when you been here as long as Brooks has.
