Self-driving automobiles, economic and social considerations

Hi Nat, another good article from you. I have been following all your posts in the Driver-less car series. While discussing the pros and cons of artificial intelligence the other day, the point came up about what will happen to accident casualties caused by driver-less cars. Who is to be blamed ?
And then there are some ethical issues. For example in an unfortunate situation, a driver must decide whether to move right or left, either injuring three people in a truck or potentially killing a person on a motorcycle. These types of ethical dilemmas would require the software in a driver-less car to weigh different outcomes and come to a sensible final solution on its own.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
