In my working days, before I had accumulated like a zillion days off (at my then-place of employment, after 35 years you got 7 weeks of vacation; couple that with 12 holidays, that’s a lot of time off), we stretched our time off by taking “a special three-day weekend.” We took off Thursday, did a lot of physical stuff (work, play, whatever, outdoors stuff), and then went back into the office on Friday to allow our bodies to recover. Then came the normal weekend. So that was kinda like a four-day weekend, but more efficient. Recovered on the Company’s time instead of “wasting” a day of vacation recuperating.
