An Urge to KNOW!
I learned a lot from this reading of Dale Carneige. He has used various examples of famous people like Napolean, Alfred Adler, the editor of the story writing class of New York University in his chapter “Do it and you’ll be Welcome anywhere” specifically to highlight the importance of people and getting a know-how of them to make them feel your importance too! “If we merely try to impress other people and get people interested in us, we’ll never have many true, sincere friends. Friends, real friends, are not made that way!” I really liked this idea as it speaks a true lesson. Of course, we cannot just brag about ourselves while talking to others. This will, honestly, annoy people because they don’t want anyone to listen just about others, but they need someone to whom they can share about themselves too! Mr. Howard Thurston’s secret of success truly impressed me that is to ‘take genuine interest in others’. However, you have to interact with a diversity of masses, you have to know them personally and professionally, you should be curious and inquisitive to know the story of their triumphal success, you have to acknowledge their accomplishments, you have to praise them, love them, and show your full potential and interest in them by communicating and acquiring them about their companies or organisations and by being fully acquainted with them to become a successful being. Here’s what I’ve experienced! Well, talking to other people whom I really take deep interest in has been extremely fascinating and pleasing so far. My experience was so good and I really worth every single minute of it! I talked to one of my best and very special friends whom I love wholeheartedly and am genuinely interested in her and knowing about her future goals as she is really a successful person in all respects. I always love talking to her because she has the same interests and passion like me in education, work, going abroad for higher studies, doing something different, be a support of parents, doing CSS etc. and she is equally interested in making her career and have a bright future. She is 5 years elder than me and is actually a role model for me. I always talk to her taking suggestions and opinions about my career and she always guides me what interesting, instructive and successful steps should I further take in my life. She always boosts my confidence level, encourage and motivate me to struggle hard and take the challenges in life whenever I express my interest in asking something new and innovative and seeking advice from her. I got to learn a lot from her. Moreover, she was the one prompting me to go to U.S with whom I used to discuss and share incredible and undreamt experiences of my Cultural Exchange journey. It always helped me share information about different educational maneuvers, exchange thoughts, establishing futuristic goals, having profound and bemused discussions, making right choices, developing opinions, and much more. She guided me in the best way possible! Even she was the one who introduced me to the Amal Fellowship and advised me to apply for this amazing program in order to work on polishing my skills further. Therefore, this shows that when I am genuinely interested in someone else’s career by talking to her and knowing about her and her future plans, she is also always ready and proactive to give me a wise and right direction towards my career and professionalism. This will certainly prove valuable for me in the long run. I bet!
