To be able to install your dashboard cameras, you have to make do with some tools and equipment. We devote this fourth article to discussing these items. Find them here below:

Dash camera

Anti-static wrist strap

This is a trap which comes in the form of a bracelet. You use this to ground the dashboard camera to prevent the risks of shocks and electrocutions. Other than that, the equipment also prevents the buildup of static and hence contributes to your overall safety.

Screwdriver

You use a screwdriver to fasten the screws that hold the camera firmly in place. These tools also come in handy while uninstalling the camera after use. Compared to many other alternative tools, the screwdrivers are easier to make use of due to their overly simple nature.

Hexagon Key

Also called the Allen key, a hexagon key is a simple tool which is used to drive the bolts in place. It plays a more or less similar role to that of the screwdriver with the exception that it only handles bolts, not screws. You will find it handy when fixing the mounting rack in place. It is available mostly in 6-mm and 8-mm variants.

17-mm Wrench

The wrench is also called a spanner. Its role is mainly to provide some grip and mechanical advantage while applying the torque while turning the objects. The wrench is mainly used to handle the bolts and nuts. While installing the dash-cams, the wrench fastens the bolts firmly in place.

Cage Nut Tool

In case your mounting rack has some rails, you will need the cage nut tool to fix it. This tool comprises a nut which wraps around the nut to fix it. In the course of so doing, it plays a vital role in compressing the cage to fit the limited space that may be available in your disposal.

Tie-downs

As the name implies, the tie-downs hold the device downwards. They are mainly useful if the mounting rack is fixed at the base of the dashboard rather than the roof of the car. They play the secondary role of providing added support and minimizing fidgeting. In this way, they prevent your camera from ever getting damaged.

Tie-wraps

Then come the tie-wraps. These are also fasteners. They are however used to hold the cables and other paraphernalia which are used alongside the camera. In this way, they not only minimize clutter but also spare you from the risks of electrocution.

Rack Mounts

The rack mounts come in last. These are basically hardware devices which hold your camera firmly in place. They come in two main kinds i.e. those that are placed on the dashboard itself and those which are placed at the roof of the car. It is up to you to choose one of your liking's.
