What I wish I knew when I was a fresher.

  1. Getting into IIT is not the end of anything(especially not working hard that’s the most important thing you acquired while preparing for jee),you have come here slogging hell lot of hours with very few break’s/outtings(sic) please don’t throw it all away.
  2. Grades (CPI/SPI) DOES matter not the only thing but an important thing.(you realise it even when u get exmplery scores but denied opportunities because of grades, your choices for higher education gets restricted it hurts really very bad).
  3. IIT gives us many opportunities to grow, the best among those is students from diverse backgrounds and cultures use this opportunity to interact with as many students as possible and learn from them (I know interacting with new people is very hard for us but don’t stay in comfort zone), learning and interaction happens mostly happens when you work with them.So come out of the rooms join a technical club/a cultural club and definitely alcher or techniche(techno) , I promise it will give you a lot of good friends and wonderful memories of lifetime.(caution : don’t waste too much time on them either balance is the key here) and play/learn a sport you don’t have to go to inter IIT just play it .(you won’t be getting such beautiful grounds again once you come outside).
  4. It is not so well written I know but if you take this advice you may don’t have to contemplate on writing one to your juniors.

IIT Guwahati is going to give you a lifetime of memories and experiences just take them, your stay is going be more than awesome.

All the best.

PS: my advice may be appropriate to juniors from my background, I encourage other seniors from diverse backgrounds to come forward a write one for their juniors too.(and better one hopefully).
