I live in a Rural County, filled with farms, that went to Trump, in a State that went to Clinton due to the voters in a few massive cities in said State. On my bicycle rides through the country, which are attempts to keep in shape physically and mentally, I would run across farm houses with Trump/Pence signs defacing their lawns. The irony of them voting for Trump has always floored me. Since I’ve studied agriculture intensely in the past, I am keenly aware of how vital Federal studies which result in technical books and booklets available for anyone to use are to the advancement of agriculture. I just knew that a demagogue like Trump would place a profoundly unqualified person in charge of the USDA.

For moderate to small sized farms, this appointment is extraordinarily problematic and unfortunately, the most apt phrase which comes to my mind is “You reap what you sow.”
