I’m not denying that shooting matters. I’m saying that you can be a superstar even without it. That’s what Philly is hoping to get out of Simmons (I mean, they’d love to have him develop a solid jumper, but he profiles as a Giannis-type player even without it: Ultra-athletic point-forward who can get to the rim and defend pretty much any position). Hell, the best player in the league is only an adequate shooter.

As for the Greek Freak himself, you don’t make second team All-NBA - in one of the deepest forward classes ever, no less - based on potential. As for a max salary, he’s getting one. Period. Regardless of what happens with his shooting between now and free agency.
