Okay, but none of that has anything to do with the quality of the actual throw. Every last word of it could be true, and it would still also be true that a throw aimed 1–2 yards further to the offense’s right would have allowed Edelman to catch the ball in stride and try to break an even bigger play. Instead, Edelman was forced to slow down, then jump to make sure of the catch, which meant the safety could take him down immediately.
My issue isn’t with the route or with Brady’s (correct) decision to pass to Edelman. It’s with where Brady chose to put the ball.
