5 Things I Wish I Knew Before My 20's
Really simple things that may or may not change your quality of life…
1. You haven’t figured it all out yet
There may be pressure from all angles, Instagram posts of success, friends in fantastic careers, everybody getting pregnant but just because your journey hasn’t begun doesn’t mean it is the end.
2. Family members die
This hits hard. The older you get….the older your loved ones get. Shitty concept I know. So forget about that one disagreement you had years ago and stopped talking, this isn’t an American drama and spend as much time as possible with them.
3. Networking is a must
Friends do not grow on trees. Well they’ll probably make an app for this in sometime short. Not just friends but acquaintances, mentors, coaches, heck even lifting buddies you have to put yourself out there. It is not like school when the teacher puts you on a table together for 6–10 years. You make your own table.
4. Self-studying is as important as breathing
Oh you don’t understand how a mortgage works? No idea how the stock market works? How a rental agreement goes down? For the majority of us things like this are pretty normal (sadly enough). There is no classroom anymore, it is in your mind now.
5. It’s ok to not be ok for a while
Feeling a tiny bit confused or down about your journey is normal. Heck I even called mine the ‘Quarter Life Crisis’. Expectations on yourself are more like a cage for a bird giving you illusions that you can fly but will quickly halt advancing. It is a 12 round boxing match and you haven’t even got out of the changing rooms nor put on your gloves. Good luck.
Be Super.
