“Gregory, why’s your face red?”
My five-year-old smiled over Skype. “We played ‘Snow White’!”
Liz is teaching the kids “fixed” fairytales. Last week, Gregory fell from a long, braided wig that slipped off Marianne’s head, spraining his wrist.
“He shouldn’t break into women’s bedrooms,” Liz had insisted.
“Mumma made me kiss Marianne while she was sleepin’ an’ she slapped me!”
“Where are you?” I’d put my foot down after “Rapunzel” and Liz stole the kids away.
“The woods! There’s a candy house and a witch –” the connection severed.
Sweat tickled my spine.
“Hansel and Gretel” will not end well.
