Processed meats as bad as cigarettes: bad reporting on good science
Zach Supalla

Relating to the media and statistics…here is some interesting data related to violence and murder rates per 100,000 people for 2013 from data:

UK: assaults 2.8%, rapes 0.9%, murders 0.0012%
AU: assaults 2.4%, rapes 1%, murders 0.0010%
US: assaults 1.2%, rapes 0.4%, murders 0.0048%

The news proclaims “The US has 400% more murders than Australia and the UK!” but I feel a little safer in the US for some reason.
