You are not willing to support your main point: that you/conservatives/Trump are not racist? This seems to be your sticking point, but you will not support it with evidence?
I owe you no evidence. You are making the charge.
To your point about immigration: yes, your position is racist. To say that most Mexicans are not trying to go through the front door, or are not the kind of people we would want here, is a negative over-generalization: i.e. racist.
No, because the same conclusion could be reached about illegal immigrants of any race or origin. Even illegal immigrants from the UK. I’d expect that illegal immigrants from the UK are less likely to be the kind of people we want than those who come here legally. If only for the reason that we get to check them first. The opposite conclusion is magical thinking where somehow we expect those who sneak in to be of the same quality as those who we get to vet.
How many undocumented immigrants have you met?
Probably more than you.
How many stories have you listened to?
How about work beside them? Drink with them? Almost certainly more than you. You might ask your questions of my Mexican American friends who are among the staunchest Trump supporters I know.
How familiar are you with immigration policy? Do you know the process for obtaining a green card/permanent residency/refugee status/asylum status/TPS/UVISA/work permit/etc.? If you did, you would know that the vetting process is already thorough and extensive.
Illegal immigrants don’t get vetted.
You would also know that the “front door” is exactly what immigrants are trying to do, but our laws make it opaque and inaccessible.
Then let’s talk about a way to make the laws more transparent. Part of that is being clear that illegal immigration is not a pathway to legal status.
You may *think* the policies you support are helping people, but the evidence suggests the opposite. Theories vs. facts. Care for others, honest appraisal of the facts — this is what is lacking here. Believing something doesn’t make it true.
You seem to be missing the point. The point is not whether progressives are right or conservatives are right about the best way to help minority communities, the point is whether or not being wrong about the best way makes you racist. Since you put that as evidence in you list of charges, I can only conclude that you think being wrong on that point makes you racist. That’s absurd.
You may *think* the policies you support are helping people, but the evidence suggests the opposite. Theories vs. facts.
I disagree, but since this not relevant to motivations, I’ll avoid this distaction for now.
