Buying a New 4G Smartphone on a Budget
Phone technology is evolving so rapidly that it has become quite hard for consumers to keep pace with the latest developments. We had barely finished the migration from 2G to 3G, and now the 4G is upon us. All major carriers are touting the benefits of 4g, and we as consumers are confused, as how to respond — whether stick with our current phones or buy a new one. In this instance, budget 4G smartphones that sell under Indian Rupees 10000 have come as a boon for those of us looking to a more affordable switch.
One of the prime makers of affordable smartphones in India is Lava Mobiles Ltd. The company is the only Indian mobile phone maker able to give competition to the onslaught of Chinese phone companies in the country. The phones we are featuring in this post are Lava X81, X10 and V2. All three models are 3GB RAM mobile phones and sell under INR 10000.
First, the Lava X81, the phone impresses with its 2.5D curvature glass and elegantly shaped round edge design. The X10 on the other hand is more of an industrial design that relies heavily on straight lines and overall symmetry in its elements (sensor placement, speaker grills etc). Lastly, the V2 is made for durability and comes with a polycarbonate plastic body. The phone is oldest among the lot and thus the design might be considered somewhat unappealing by today’s standards (but we have included it here as a more budget friendly option).
The phones are powered by similar MediaTek systems on chip a.k.a processors. As mentioned earlier, the quad core processor in these devices is tied with 3GB of RAM. This coupling results in some impressive results on the performance front by these phones. There are not many 3GB RAM mobile phones out there selling under 10000 INR, and if you are interested in buying one, you should definitely check out the phone line-up from Lava.
Lava also impresses us on the camera front as all three latest smartphones come with 13 megapixel primary camera and 8 megapixel front cams. You can expect some difference in camera picture quality due to generational and software difference on these phones. Similarly, the price is also differentiated based on changes in some other hardware and software features.
In our opinion the Lava X81, X10 and V2s are all great devices and you won’t go wrong with a purchase since Lava, as always, delivers on their promise of durable and performance friendly device. In the rare case anything does go wrong with your purchase, you can always contact the company’s customer support and request for assistance. Lava has one of the best service networks pan India.
If you are still in a dilemma about switching to 4G, we have done a comparison between 3G and 4G networks which you can read here.
