Pink or blue- Flowers or Trucks!

My friend who lives in NY went to a Carter’s store and was irritated with the many gender biased tops she saw there. She asked me why do only girls have to like cup cakes, why do only girls have to have purple and why do we not see trucks and trains on a girl’s dress. Why should a girl’s top have blings and sparkles alone!!!! Well, boys like cup cakes too, they like flowers too then why and who creates this discrimination?? I was left thinking as I have seen this countless number of time in the past 6 years that I have shopped with my daughter. We as parents must raise conscious and responsible boys and strong and empowered girls. We must work towards this change and help our kids live a gender bias free environment. Lets hope for a day in which a boy gets to pick up a shirt with pink flowers and a girl picks up a dress with trains and trucks on it!
