I agree with the points in this article, but feel Musk’s talking more-so about being completely obsessed with work-product. This means every productive moment you have during the day goes into subconsciously working on what you’re building, with a constant desire to improve and perfect. 80 hour work weeks are not uncommon if you enjoy what you’re doing. The hard part is figuring out the purpose behind why you’re working so hard — which separates employees versus leaders to an extent. Though leaders, again, are only as good as their team. It has to be a collective effort.
