Thinking about our future with 9 videos

We’re living a change of era, where technology is incredible but it’s only on the beginning of what it can do to change our lives. I’m not an expert in every subject, so instead of create a text that is most derivative of other’s life works, let’s spread their voices.

Some TED Talks that will help us think about the future of human being, world and business. Although short, they can be a great way to expand some horizons and to spark creativity.

Human reengineering

We will be our own god, controlling, managing and changing every single detail we want, until we create the “perfect” human being. How we will deal with the moral and ethical questions this — and the other topics of this article too — bring.

No more ageing (?)

How is it a world where people do not die? Or take a how lot more time to do so. Our thinking and minds as individuals will be ready to that? Will we get bored of life? If some people already waste their limited time here doing nothing that adds value to society or even to themselves, how will they manage 150 years of living. How our ideas and thinking will adapt to this?

Computers that are smarter than us

What is going to be the role of humans when a lot of our current activities is done better by robots? How people will live, interact with this technology, in what they are going to work and how our society, educational systems and business will adapt themselves to these changes?

Learning

A lot has been talked about the change/evolution of education, but it’s a lot of room for improvement. For a learning that “teach” us to deal with emotions and not only one type of intelligence.

Getting food

Getting healthier food to 9 billion people, most of them living in cities it’s a big challenge. And do not talk about this frozen lasagnas or pizzas, but natural and healthier and fruits, vegetable and meat.

Rethinking our cities

Our cities were not designed — in most cases — for people, but for cars. A lot of people are trying to reclaim the city back to human beings again. It’s not just a matter of mobility, but cultural, social and healthier societies.

Capitalism

One time we will get to the end of the path we set us in. There is no way of our planet to provide as much resources as we’re trying to get from it. That’s is one of the reasons we started to try to take minerals from space. But it’s not enough, we have to consider if the type of economic system we want will provide us means to have a long lasting relationship with our planet and other humans or to destroy us.

All subjects together

A presentation that talks about all the topics above.
