The ‘Threat’ Against the Military-Industrial Complex

SMNI News’ The Deep Probe panel of experts exchanged views on the Foreign Policy speech of US Democrat Presidential Candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr particularly on the matter of ‘military industrial complex.’

US President Dwight Eisenhower, in his farewell address in 1961, warned against it:

“A vital element in keeping the peace is our military establishment. Our arms must be might, ready for instant action, so that no potential aggressor may be tempted to risk his own destruction.

American makers of plowshares could, with time and as required, make swords as well. But now we can no longer risk emergency improvisation of national defense; we have been compelled to create a permanent armaments industry of vast proportions.

This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.”

What Eisenhower warned about 60 years ago is still alive and well, and MIC continues to use its “unprecedented influence” to ensure that ‘war,’ not dialogue, is the most likely solution to the world’s problems.

In the new world, Isaiah the prophet envisions one where
“(men) shall beat their swords into plowshares,
and their spears into pruninghooks;
nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
neither shall they learn war any more.”
(Isaiah 2:4)

Now we have a deeper understanding why there is clustered or collective hostility against the rising ‘new world.’

Why there is such animosity since the declaration that a new order has been set in place, is that there is now a revolving door — war will not last forever, and peace shall come.

Panel of Experts from SMNI’s The Deep Probe include International Law expert, Atty. Harry Roque, former NPA Cadre, Jeffrey ‘Bro. Eric’ Celiz, former NTF-ELCAC Spokesperson Dr. Lorraine T. Badoy and KJC Leader, Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy.
