Obtaining your Nigeria International Passport

Almost every day, I refer and help people in the process to get their international passport.
This is one significant document every citizen should have if you ever at least hope to travel. It plays several other roles.

My concern is that I get too much request to help with it when you can actually get it done yourself for less.

Usually,
You’d call one friend or another who you think or knows how to go about it.
They probably refer you to an agent or someone they know that knows someone in the Nigeria Immigration Service (they are responsible for issuance).

It would normally cost you from #28k-#40k or even more depending on who and where (state) you are applying from.

Lagos and Abuja, mostly on the high side

Normally
The passport fee is #17k for 32 pages and #22k for 64 pages (include #2k address verification fee).
Note that this price is for the old international passport and u will never get it at this price (inflated). Some states still issue and others don’t.
The decision is usually made by the comptroller, in other words, however, he wants it.

Now to the new passport.

There is the;

a. 32 pages (#25k) 5 years validity and
b. 64 pages (35k/5yrs and 70k/10yrs).
👆 Fed govt price.
But you will only get it at at least
35k for a

#45k/#85k–#90k for b

If lucky 🤷‍♂️

If you would do this application yourself to cut cost there is every possibility you will intentionally be stressed and not get it on time.
Hence, the reasons why people avail themselves and just bargain.

But if you would still like to apply yourself. Here 🔜 are the steps
First you login into the Nigeria Immigration Service website.
Here is the easy guideline in the comfort of your home;

For guarantors form

Take the filled form, guarantors form and other required documents to a choice of office.

The good thing is if you do this yourself;
You will get to enjoy the proper process to at least one thing in Nigeria.
The portal is effective and you can be done with everything in less than a day.

The possible challenge now comes in biometrics and passport collection.

When you go to submit, you might get resenting approach (like na you Sabi am yourself abi? 😏)

If the office is well structured, they allow you the biometrics as scheduled on the date on your form easily and you go home with your passport or wait for will when they mail or call you it’s ready.
Challenge you might have, your capturing, passport might be delayed(sometimes intentionally as per no open hand).

But with the power of the open hand, you can get it at your earliest convenience (relatively).

Note that the head of the Nigeria Immigration Service try every time to eradicate the corruption and delay in production and encourage citizens to report cases and always follow due process.

See you on another episode

🙅‍♂️🙅‍♂️ bye bye
