How I choose next books to read

I love books. I don’t read books just for pleasure. I read because it is a way of life. Hoo. Going to bookstore and spend my time there is always a pleasure but to actually spend money buying books will took me hours. With high living costs but low-paying salary, books’s prices in Malaysia are no jokes, especially the imported ones so obviously I am very picky when it time to take out my wallet because hey! buying books is after all a life-time investment. I once spent 3 hours in KLCC Kinokuniya Bookstore contemplating which books to buy and ended up buying nothing. That’s why I create three simple rules which helps me a lot on deciding next books to read.
1. Book Cover Design

I am one of the people who choose books by its covers. I mean, why not? With Photoshop and many others editing software out there (some of them is free!), one would think that creating a book cover that AT LEAST look nice is a common sense. If you were poor student like me buying books require a great deal of money thus I would like to spend my money on great contents AND pretty covers. Plus, ain’t nobody got time to check every single books on the shelves and sadly it is human nature to favor attractive things; be it books or people.
If you can’t make it good, at least make it look good.

2. Author
Once I took a liking on an author, I will blindly buy it without even looking at the synopsis. If the cover says Sarah Dessen, Nicholas Sparks, Hlovate (just naming a few) I will just

3. Goodreads Website

Goodreads is a great website for book lovers. I can take a peek on my friends’ book shelves to see what they are reading and it give me idea on what to read next. There is also a recommendation things that you can get based on your selected favourite genres so this site definitely saves me a trip to book store.
Anyway, that’s how I choose next books to read. Very easy, right?
p/s: If only earning money is as easy as choosing books to read.
