Another example of friction that comes up a lot where I work is when users are making important decisions, about their finances for example. Sure, I could make a little slider that lets a user reduce their 401k contributions, but would that result in more people making poor decisions? Maybe the best solution is putting the ability to edit the number behind a click.

Creating a bit of friction can force the brain to slow down and think about something.
