Kind of a hybrid approach that uses 3D space to give the menu a home can be found in Overwatch. By default, the camera gives you a view of one of the characters in the space inside one of the maps. As you navigate some sections of the main menu, to view character models or open loot boxes, the background of the menu sweeps your POV to another area of the map that has space for the loot box or character models.

Doing this is not only a nice way to show off their beautifully detailed environments, but it also makes it super easy to recognize what screen you’re on.
