You know, having grown up welfare-poor and been fortunate enough to move into the educated, professional classes with my faith intact (not without a *lot* of struggle and soul-searching, but with God never ceasing in His pursuit of me), some of what you say resonates with me, and some I can’t identify with.
But as a writer, I need to tell you that your last sentence struck me to my core. Maybe not in the way that you meant it (although, maybe so). Watching my country over the past year has broken my heart. I have learned more about my country than my heart can handle.
