Postal Training Centre Mysore is a premier Training Centre of Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, Government of India that runs high quality training programs for postal personnel which is situated in City of Palaces. PTC has equipped itself with the state of art computer training facilities and trains a large number of personnel in IT related activities.
The Postal Training Centre at Mysore is housed in a palace, which formerly belonged to Royal Family of Mysore. Mansion was constructed by Maharaja Chamaraja Wadiyar during 1902–1914 at a cost of ~ ₹ 4, 27,610 for the second princess — Krishnajammanni. Later in August 20, 1964, the mansion’s ownership passed on to the Department of Posts for ~ ₹ 24,00,000. The Mansion is built using the Indo-Sarcenic Renaissance style of architecture and because of its proximity to the Karanji Lake it became popular as Karanji Mansion.
The PTC, which has been functioning from the building since April 20, 1965, is spread over an area of 31.5 acres with hostels, playgrounds and other amenities for trainees. It has set up a museum depicting the Postal history in the country, which is accessible to the public between 9.30 am to 5.30 pm on all days except for Sundays.
Mansion can be located at a distance of 4 km from Mysore Railway Station, 2.5 Km from Mysore City Bus Stand and 2.5 Km from Mysore Sub-Urban Bus Stand.
