the heart wants what it wants

It’s funny to think the arms that held me
Are holding someone new.
And the words you said to charm me
Are now being reused.
I never thought the day would come
That I’d regret letting you go.
But we want what we can’t have,
At least that’s how the saying goes.
The beginning days were easy,
We were young and had it all.
But our feelings came to haunt us,
And distance made a wall.
All I’m hoping now
Is that we meet again someday.
And everything starts over
Because we’re in a better place.
Although it hurts to see you’ve found
Somebody else to love.
I wish you all the best,
And I can’t say that enough.
