꽃미남 or イケメン of the week — Hot Korean & Japanese guys brought to you every week on Elizabeth’s medium ;)

Last week of the 2014 calendar year…

Ryo Kase (加瀨亮, November 9th 1974 ~)

It was quite by chance that I discovered Ryo Kase. One lazy Sunday morning, I was reading Japan Times and stumbled upon a movie review of a Korean film “Hill of Freedom(2014)” directed by Hong Sang-soo. Within the first 30 seconds of watching the trailer featured in the movie review, I found myself immediately drawn to Ryo Kase who plays the main protagonist in the movie.

Now, I have three reasons to watch this film. 1) Ryo Kase is in it (quite obviously) 2)It’s a Hong Sang-soo film — whether you’re a full or semi-expert on movies or a movie critic or just a plain movie geek, you’d probably have heard of his name. 3) Someone I know (or rather…someone whom I shared bottles(yes, bottles) of wine with one summer night in Seoul) is in it. — It’s one of the people who appear in the trailer. My friend and I shared bottles of wine with this guy right outside of our favorite cafe in Seoul. He actually owns a pretty decent lamb BBQ restaurant right nextdoor to our favorite cafe and message me here for directions if you’d like to try out his lamb BBQ for yourself. He was so nice he gave a bag of lamb scraps for my friend’s rescue puppy ;)

Okay, now back to Ryo Kase. Even before starring in Hong Sang-soo’s film, Ryo already had a perfectly glowing filmography — including Clint Eastwood’s Letters from Iwo Jima.

And, Ryo is living proof that a human being can be absolutely adorable at age 40.

Post Script. This was written proudly by Elizabeth Jae when she should’ve gone to bed hours ago. Excuse any typos or hastily crafted paragraph you may spot in this blog entry.
