So did Kafka believe in the existence of heaven and hell, I wonder.

I agree to the extent that I believe we do have two facets to our lives... the surreal that takes place in our imaginations which may or may not make it into our real world. And yes those thoughts are not dictated by time, they linger within the mind, coming and going as we call upon them or as they resurface.

And then there is the actual reality of the world... task, responsibilities that have fixed time frames to be accomplished, the mundane of existence.

I think I need to take a nap after that one! :-)
