Whispers of Rain

photo by Eric Zhu @ unsplash

A December day

when the noise of the world

is subdued and gray.

From the heavens, comes the play

of raindrops falling

and alighting upon Mother Earth’s

body.

They caress her with refreshment

after having endured

a scorched, parched summer.

She soaks it in

and exhales a long, soft sigh

of gratitude.

Drops of rain falling,

hitting my windowpane,

creating a symphony

of muted notes,

lulling me into reflection

of times long past,

of memories that linger

deep within me.

December rain…

bringing tranquility and

healing of the body’s

mind and heart.

I pause and offer thanksgiving

to my Creator

for the wonder and glory

of His blessing

contained within each drop.
