Have you ever talked yourself out of trying something new because you thought you weren’t good enough? Or maybe you’ve let negative thoughts ruin your mood one too many times?

Our thoughts are powerful, but they’re not always accurate. They can sometimes be our own worst enemy.

Thoughts are NOT Facts

Our brains are wired for negativity.

It’s a leftover from our caveman days when negativity helped us survive. But in today’s world, it can hold us back.

Recount the number of times your thoughts failed you.

This is not to discount the power of thoughts. It is to understand that thoughts are fallible. Made up not from facts but an array of opinions.

You Control Your Thoughts

By reflecting on your thoughts through journaling, meditation, or other methods, you can challenge their accuracy and develop a more objective understanding of the world and yourself.

Here’s an example. Imagine you’re thinking about asking someone out on a date. You might talk yourself out of it by thinking, "They’ll never say yes anyway."

But what if you challenged that thought? You could reframe it as, "I won’t know unless I ask."

By replacing negative thoughts with more positive ones, you increase your chances of success.

When a negative thought pops into your head, remember: it’s just a thought, and it doesn’t have control over you. With a little effort, you can learn to challenge your thinking and open yourself up to a more positive and fulfilling life.
