I’ve explored the web to find the latest and greatest AI video subtitle generator tools, so you might stumble upon some fresh finds here. But fear not, I’ll be your guide through this journey of discovering free, AI-powered gems for adding subtitles to your videos.

So, let’s dive right in and explore the cream of the crop — the top 5 free subtitle generator tools that have earned a spot in my content creation arsenal. Get ready to revolutionize your video content without spending a dime!

1. Simplified

Simplified has made a name for itself with its exceptional writing tools, but did you know it offers a treasure trove of other AI-powered tools? From social media schedulers to AI video editors, design assistants, repurposing AI, and even a handy subtitle generator, the list goes on and on! Today, let me share my experience with Simplified’s Video Subtitle Generator.

Excited to get started, I signed up with their free plan to explore all that Simplified has to offer.

Right from the get-go, as soon as you land on the Video dashboard, just give that ‘AI Subtitles’ button a friendly click, just like it’s shown in the image below. It’s that easy!

In the next step, you’ll find templates available in landscape, square, and portrait formats. However, I decided to go with a different route since I’m on the free plan. Take a look at the image below to see what I mean!

Generate subtitles for your videos with free plan

Following these steps ensures that your video’s dimensions are seamlessly adjusted to fit, and subtitles are added automatically based on the content. As you can see in the image, I’ve already uploaded the video in the next step.

After exploring further, I stumbled upon two exciting options to move forward. Firstly, adjusting the playback speed, and secondly, selecting from 32 languages for subtitles. Opting for English subtitles, I decided to skip adjusting the playback speed as I’m currently on the free plan. Check out the image below for a closer look!

In the next step, I simply clicked on ‘Generate’ and was whisked away to the dashboard. Here, you’ll find the transcript displayed on the left side, as shown in the image below. On the right side, you’ll see the video with its corresponding ‘Generated Subtitle’ — making it super easy to access both at a glance!

I had a blast tweaking my video’s font size, style, and colors, along with customizing the subtitle theme — talk about creative freedom! Plus, the time stamp feature made fixing any errors a breeze. Adding a dash of animation at the start? Easy peasy!

My video turned out flawless, thanks to all these amazing features, and the best part? It didn’t cost me a dime! Well, except for the watermark on the free plan, but hey, that’s a small price to pay for such awesome functionality.

Now, the big question: free plan or paid? It’s all up to you! I’d highly recommend giving it a try — you won’t be disappointed!

2. Submagic

Let’s dive into how I spiced up my video with subtitles using the amazing Submagic tool!

Step no. 1

SignUp the account and upload the video you want

I have selected a video to upload

After uploading the video you can see the 3 elements inside the picture;

Next, you’ll find the Caption/Video transcript section, where you can easily correct any misspellings or errors you spot.

Exciting news! Now you have access to 50 languages! Simply pick the one that fits your needs perfectly.

Ready to experience the magic? Simply hit the ‘Upload’ button and watch the transformation begin!

Let me share a little behind-the-scenes story: After choosing English as my language preference, I uploaded my 33-second video with just a click of the ‘Upload’ button (weighing in at 1.89 MB).

Step no. 2

In no time, I was greeted with a variety of customization options! From choosing font styles to adding video captions, text overlays, and even watermarks for free profiles, the possibilities were endless. After making my selections, I eagerly clicked the ‘Publish’ button to see the final result unfold before my eyes. Talk about exciting!

Step no. 3

Now, all that’s left is to save and export your video!

Pros: With just three simple steps, I managed to add subtitles to my video in a matter of minutes.

Cons: Keep in mind that with the free plan, a watermark will appear on your video. If you’d prefer not to display a watermark or logo, consider upgrading to the pro option.

Highlight Features:

1. Choose from a variety of font styles and colors, and easily adjust the size and position of your subtitles on the video to make them stand out just the way you like!

2. With the ability to convert subtitles into 50 different languages, you can reach a global audience and ensure everyone can enjoy your video, no matter where they are in the world!

3. Experience lightning-fast turnaround times! In just 2–4 minutes, your one-minute video will be fully subtitled and ready to share with the world. It’s quick, easy, and hassle-free!

In conclusion, I recently uploaded a 1.89 MB video and after making all the necessary subtitle changes, it transformed into a 5.62 MB format. And the best part? The subtitles were seamlessly added to my video in no time at all! Thumbs up from me — it’s a game-changer!

3. Animaker

I stumbled upon Animaker, a fantastic subtitle generator tool, right at the top of my Google search list. Let me walk you through the user-friendly interface I encountered when I created my account using my email address.

Step 1: It’s super simple! Just sign up for a free account using your active email address and you’re all set to upload your video.

Source: Animaker

Quick heads up: Our tool supports a variety of file formats including mp4, .mov, .avi, .flv, and .webm, so you have plenty of options to choose from. Plus, you can upload videos up to 3GB in size at once, giving you ample room to work with.

Now, onto step number 2! Here’s where the fun begins. You’ve got three awesome options to add subtitles to your video:

a) Let the magic happen automatically by adding subtitles with just a click!

b) Get hands-on with manual subtitle editing for that personal touch.

c) Bring your subtitles by uploading files in formats like .srt, .vtt, .sbv, or .ass.

Uploading the video took nearly a minute, so there’s a bit of a delay in that aspect. As for the Free plan, I couldn’t utilize the Automatic subtitle feature personally. It seemed to stall, repeatedly prompting me to choose my preferred subtitle-generation method.

Instead, I opted to add subtitles manually and explored other features like Subtitle style, font size, Letter spacing, and Line height. What’s even cooler is that you can animate your text too! Take a look below.

In the next step, when I clicked on the download button, I was presented with two options: ‘Download Video’ and ‘Download Subtitle File’. Opting for the ‘Download Video’ option, I encountered three choices: first, the ability to rename the file; second, the option to select the video quality in various formats; and third, the ‘File Type’ selection, where the free plan offered MP4 format while other options were reserved for paid/pro plans.

Since both SD 480 and HD 720p were available under the free plan, I opted for SD 480 quality due to the shorter download time.

4. Veed.io

Fourth on the list, we have Veed, the renowned free subtitle generator tool. I’ve heard heaps of great things about it, and now I’m finally getting my hands on it! Let’s dive right in and give this tool a spin. So, my first move?

Opening up the landing page and hitting that ‘Add subtitles’ button!

After signing up, the next step is a breeze! Just click on ‘Upload a File’ to start sharing your awesome video with us.

Here’s another exciting feature: you’ll find over 100 languages available for adding subtitles. Let me break it down further: even for English alone, you have options tailored to different regions like the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, and India. How cool is that? See below;

Once the video is processed, you’ll have access to the transcription and the video itself. Simplified offers three standout features: translation, Font Styles, and a unique ‘Options’ feature. With ‘Options,’ you can choose from SRT, VTT, or TXT format subtitles, giving you added flexibility that sets it apart from other tools.

By the end, I mastered the art of tweaking font sizes, experimenting with colors, and playing around with font styles. When it came time to download my video, I simply clicked a button and landed on the dashboard, just like the one shown below!

In the image above, you’ll notice that Veed includes a watermark in its free plan. However, fear not! Veed also offers convenient sharing options to your favorite social media platforms. When you’re ready, just click on the download button to save your masterpiece.

In summary, while the watermark is a small hiccup in Veed’s free subtitle generator, they offer paid plans without it. So, if you prefer a watermark-free experience, you can opt for one of their paid plans instead.

5. Clickchamp

Now, onto the final step with Clickchamp, where I’ll be adding some captivating captions to my video!

First things first, I signed up for my free account, and then smoothly uploaded the video. Take a peek at the image below for a visual guide!

Source: Clickchamp

After adding your video to Clickchamp, you’ll be greeted with a user-friendly dashboard, just like the one shown below. Once you’re there, simply head to the right side of the screen and click on the ‘Caption’ option. From there, hit the green button labeled ‘Turn on Autocaptions’ to effortlessly add captions to your video.

By doing this, you’ll unlock the ability to choose from over 140 languages! How cool is that?

Check out how the video subtitles appear here — they’re pretty similar to what you’d find in other tools. The cool thing? You can customize fonts, sizes, and colors to your heart’s content. However, if you’re after that extra polished look, Veed and Simplified are top-notch options to consider.

Once my video was ready, I simply clicked on the export option. It was as straightforward as using any other tool, but what I appreciated was the unique user experience. From there, I could easily download my video, and hey, there was even a sharing option available too! Easy peasy, right?

Wrap-Up: While it does have similarities to other tools, what sets it apart is the absence of watermarks on its free plan — a delightful bonus indeed!

Summary: Each of these top 5 free subtitle generator tools offers its own set of unique features and benefits. While Submagic boasts an easy-to-use interface and customizable options, Animaker provides a variety of subtitle editing features. Veed.io impresses with its vast language support and subtitle customization options. Simplified stands out for its seamless integration and AI-powered functionality, while Clickchamp offers a user-friendly experience with auto-captioning. Despite minor drawbacks like watermarks on free plans, these tools empower users to enhance their video content effortlessly. Choose the tool that best fits your needs and revolutionize your content creation journey today!
