Beware! If You Are Among Those Who Say, ‘Let’s Engage and Reciprocate With Each Other
Let’s fire the boosters! They are damaging our reputation and brand!
We all are now aware of the recent changes Medium has made to its algorithm. These changes, in a way, seem to be in response to the attempts by certain users to game the numbers of engagement in ways that don’t really reflect true reader interest.
For example, it introduces a 30-second delay between claps for an article.
Why?
Because some people were simply clapping on articles quickly without even reading them, just to boost their engagement stats. There’s even a new limit on how many comments you can leave each day.
If you’re not aware, the Medium platform limits each user’s comment to 100 per day.
Sounds strange, right?
But reflect on why this happens.
Clapping for an article or dropping a comment may seem like a nice, supportive thing to do.
The problem kicks in when these activities are carried on without actually going through or interacting with the content.
