Lovely thought experiment! Raked up old memories!
In 1992, while teaching a course of Original Design to Mechanical Engineering Juniors — I had given them a project to “Design a Fire Breathing Dragon”. We had used some articles from Nat Geo for the mechanics. The best part was the ingenious mechanisms which students devised for the fire-breathing part.
Of course, I also had my share of nay-sayers who insisted that fire breathing dragons were impossible! I asked them to reverse the project goal and prove that dragons were impossible! I distinctly remember that not a single student submitted a report on why they were impossible!
