Locality: Schools within 20 kilometers perimeter of disputed site.
Target group: Students of 10th standard
Class duration: 35 minutes
Class strength: 30–35 students
Learning objective:
• Students should be able to respond to the cultural, sociological and political importance of Ayodhya.
• Students will be able to argue on history they would have heard before by others and develop understanding of the scenario as an informed citizen.
Course apparatus: Pretests, lecture, group-discussion, maps, way-finding, field trip, photography, interview, presentation and final report.
Day 01


Task 01
Pretest: Teacher will float the name of the city in front of the class and ask them to discuss what do they know about the place.
Time Duration: 15 minutes
Task for the teacher: To analyze the students knowledge and understanding of the place.
Task 02
Discussion: Teacher will discuss about the place ‘Ayodhya’, important place in the city and in the last he/she will introduce the to Ram Janmbhumi.
Time Duration: 20 minutes
Task for the teacher: Teacher should briefly introduce them to the site named as ‘Ram Janmbhumi’, and tragic incident of 6th December 1992.
Task 03
Homework: Talk to the elders and write down the important buildings, places, how to commute in the city.
Day 02
Task 01
Discussion: Teacher will bring and A0 size map on the table and ask them to mark the important buildings, places, routes of city.


Time Duration: 15 minutes
Task for the teacher: To help students in figuring out the right location on the map and simultaneously discuss about the marked things on the map.
Day 03
Task 01
Discussion: Teacher will facilitate the discussion about demolition of Babri Masjid and discuss the events occurred after the incident on disputed site.
Time Duration: 10 minutes
Task for the teacher: Guide students to make a healthy discussion what do they think about the incident, and they would have been done to avoid that incident.
Task 02
Lecture: Brief lecture on the sociological, cultural and sociological developments that build up after that incident. How city has developed over this period and what were positive and negative impacts that the city had faced.
Time Duration: 15 minutes
Task 03
Briefing of field visit:
• Distribute questionnaire for the interview of people.
• Explain the map of city, and plan of the trip as from where to start and where all they must in the desired time.
• In case of any emergency whom to call or contact.
• Dress code and if they require to bring and food material along with them.
Time Duration: 10 minutes

Photography: To click photographs of the place they have marked on the map (using cellphone or a digicam).

Task 02
Talk to locals: Teacher will provide a questionnaire to the students so they can talk to shopkeepers, security officials, and write down in note books.
Task 03
Homework: Assess the information collected from people of the city, and present it to other junior classes with the help of images clicked by them.
Form the group 6–7 student in group and ask them give a presentation in next class.
Write a 200 words report about the understanding of the place, people and the changes which have occurred because of Babri Masjid demolition. It can be positive as well as negative, and it will be assessed as final submission.
Day 05
Task 01
Presentation: Teacher can invite students from other classes where these students will present and share their experience. Form a group 6–7 students and ask to present their experience of visit to the city of Ayodhya, insights from the locals and suggest an alternative solution to the current situation.
Time Duration: 60 minutes
Task 02
Open discussion with everyone about the finding of what they had heard before and what they have observed during these 5 days of local history.
Time Duration: 20 minutes
Task 03
Teacher will sum up the class his/her personal experience of these 5 days, and how it helped him/her re-understanding the city and people of Ayodhya.
Time Duration: 10 minutes
