The making of a Full Stack Developer

Why? How? When?

Why am I doing this? Well…I’m a trader and have been trading Electricity for the past decade and a half. Things were chugging right along and bam!..Fracking…frikkin’ Fracking! With the glut of Natural Gas and subsequent drop in prices, the direct result was a drop in Volatility in the Electricity markets.

So..I did what every trader would do..I dug deep and tried to find ways to make money and generate new trade ideas from overlooked, possibly algorithmic approaches. I found a couple. But this necessitated a deep dive into Analytics and Coding. This in turn meant I had to go beyond Excel. R was an obvious choice. The data I have to analyze is nicely curated and it became obvious that I needed 2 things foremost. Speed and an ability to put my analytics on the web. Here I am addressing that second need.

How? This answer was actually a few days in the making. Everywhere I turned (on the net), I found opinions talking about coding boot camps and how great they were. So I sought out a couple and then decided that a multi-pronged, free approach is what would suit me best. (Hey..I’m a trader at heart..if I can get/buy something at 0…..). So as of the time of writing, I am going to use 3 main resources, Free Code Camp, Odin Project, Coursera’s Full Stack course from Hong Kong University.

When? From now ad infinitum, ad nauseum. This shall have to serve as my regular “journal” chronicling my journey, challenges and insights. So good luck to me and Godspeed.
