5 Country Pavilions You Must See When Visiting Expo 2020
Expo 2020 is the long awaited event of the year. It is the world’s greatest show, showcasing the world in all its colours. With 194 countries participating, each bringing its own culture, music, art, innovation, and so much more, Expo 2020, held from October 1st to March 31st, is the cultural event of the year. If you are planning on attending Expo 2020, here are 10 country pavilions you must see!
1- Thailand Pavilion
The Thailand Pavilion does an incredible job of showcasing its culture and history, and portraying the historical significance of sea trade in the development of Thailands culture and society. The pavilion has
- A large statue of what an authentic Thailand ship looks like
- A 4-D cinema telling the tales of Thailand through the years
- A simulation taking you through modern-day Thailand
- And Performances!!!
The Thailand Pavilion hosts some of the most amazing performances you’ll see at Expo. The great part is that these performances happen each day! Make sure to catch one of their shows!
2- Mexico Pavilion
The Mexico Pavilion is the only pavilion at Expo 2020 that is covered by a hand-made tarp. In fact, that large tarp was woven by several Mexican women, and holds a Guinness World Record!
Throughout the Mexico Pavilion, you will find much of the Mexican culture woven into the artwork, the music, the paintings, even the wall tapestry.
3- Switzerland Pavilion
Ever wondered what the Swiss Alps look like during the morning fog? Wonder no more! Come to the Switzerland Pavilion where you can experience the Swiss fog inside!
On your way out, stop by the coffee shop inside the Switzerland Pavilion and grab yourself some Swiss chocolate!
4- Germany Pavilion
The Germany Pavilion is designed like a university campus. At the start you are given an ID card. That ID card will track you throughout the pavilion (this will come in handy at the end). As you move from one area to another, you will be promoted with a yes-or-no question about sustainability and the environment. The door you go through will count your answer (this is where the tracking ID comes in handy).
At the end of the pavilion, there is a graduation! Yes, like a university graduation! But that isn’t the best part. The graduation all has swings surrounded by a 360 degree cinematic screen!
5- Spain Pavilion
Last, but certainly not least, we have Spain! Right off the bat, the Spain Pavilion begins with a massive chess board and chess pieces (among other regular-sized chess boards), that you can actually play with!
As you move through the pavilion, you will get a sense of Spain’s history, innovation, and connective thinking. You’ll get the chance to explore the ways Spain is striving to create a more sustainable tomorrow. A little hint, you’ll get to see real spirulina growing!
The Greatest Show Doesn’t Stop There
While these are great pavilions, there is so much to see and so much to do at Expo 2020! From the concerts at the Jubilee Stage, to the performances at Al Wasl Plaza, there is always something new to explore!
And don’t forget your Expo 2020 Passport!!!
