My First time On Air
The first time I boarded a plane was full of so much evident excitement that I didn’t mind that it was going to be clear to passers by that my 23 year old was a first timer.
Even though it was a local flight, atleast I was going to be on a moving plane .
Mehnn, it was cloud 9 feeling.
I was finally going to see the interior of a plane, after my primary school classmates and I were denied an excursion to the airport, even though it was to see a dilapitated plane.
The day to travel came, I had already dreamed of how a foreigner whoe magic will serenade me into falling into his arms and then we would plan our wedding and move to Greece afterwards. You know, like they portray in Indian movies. Unfortunately no Prince charming of mine came . I blame that on the movies we watched while growing up.
On getting to the airport, I realised they had rescheduled my flight for a later time,*Village people 1–0 Rafiat.
The person who dropped me gisted with me for about extra 2 hours and showed me thr processes not to get myself forgot-ten ,So I had no problem .He had left a warning as regards the announcers at the airport who usually pronounced inaudible words that end up leaving many passengers stranded.
So, after getting a boarding pass and I was cleared into the waiting area, I sat down and was all ears because I know my village people might be against such big moment of boarding a plane finally. I listened and listened to all flights being announced and was wondering if I had not missed it finally .
Before my boarding time finally came, I had already formed friendship with four other people I saw going on the same plane because I wasnt giving any chance to be left behind.
After 1 hour of the supposed boarding time, I put a call through to my father, narrating my fears of having missed the flight, he assured me it happens like that sometimes and I should relax.
I didn’t want to ask announcers , so that they wouldn’t know I was a fresher.
So I trusted my instinct and new friends by watching them each time they moved on their seats.
An hour later, it was time to go eventually. *Rafiat 1-village people zero.
Ohhhh, did I tell you I requested for the window seat? Lol, I learnt the view would be beautiful to watch.
Finally we sat down and all the grammar speaking crew members started their spirinspirin English.
Not long after they announced turbulent or something like that and plane was doing like it was a car on Lagos Ibadan expressway. I was like shuooooo, air too has gallop?
That’s how I sneaked and saw the carton of the snacks being served by the crew
Members. I saw pictures of snail on one side and hamburger on the other side of the packs, I was already ecstatic about the process of devouring the peppered fried snails .
Imagine the tears when the food got to me and to my wonderment it was a piece of cupcake and small happy hour drink and a 3 piece biscuit . I like cakes but you can’t imagine my disappointment when I was expecting peppered snail and I got a piece of cupcake.
Oh my face was in the window throughout because it was a beautiful sight to behold truly. The city looked beautiful at night from the sky and it was nice to make a regular 9 hour journey in just one.
