Snoop Dogg Is My Hero
and he should be your hero, too
It’s Friday which means there’s a lot I have to be thankful for this week. It’s not because Thanksgiving just passed, but because it’s good practice to show your appreciation (it’s part of the becoming a better human being thing I’m doing). Here’s what I was thankful for this week.
5. Snoop Dogg Reacts to Kanye West
The Huffington Post reported on Snoop’s reaction vids to Kanye West’s latest break down.
I just want to point out how underappreciated Snoop Dogg is. So…okay, he does smoke weed. A lot. Probably more than any human should. Yet, he keeps his sh*t in line. Unlike other artists who are seen loosing their freakin’ minds, f*cking b*itches, and punching fans out of car windows, Snoop Dogg remains classy. I love him for that.
He’s also a legit entertainer.
4. Donald Trump is a Smooth Talking Motha F*cka
I appreciate how hard Trump tries to convince the country that he was the victim in all of this. Forget the racist comments. The disrespect towards women. The uprising of the KKK.
This week, the New York Times posted the full transcript of their Donald Trump interview. Read it here —
Right off the bat, the new prez-elect tried convincing the New York Times of his righteousness.
TRUMP: O.K. Well, I just appreciate the meeting and I have great respect for The New York Times. Tremendous respect. It’s very special. Always has been very special. I think I’ve been treated very rough. It’s well out there that I’ve been treated extremely unfairly in a sense, in a true sense. I wouldn’t only complain about The Times. I would say The Times was about the roughest of all. You could make the case The Washington Post was bad, but every once in a while I’d actually get a good article. Not often, Dean, but every once in awhile.
Look, I have great respect for The Times, and I’d like to turn it around. I think it would make the job I am doing much easier. We’re working very hard.
In a country that’s obsessed with social media, reality TV, and gossip, why else would we elect another candidate for president?
Snoop Dogg for 2020? Who’s with me!?
3. Missed Opportunities
This past Tuesday, I left work early to attend an audition in North Hollywood. It’s been three years since I’ve done anything in the performing arts space. It was weird. If you’ve done something that you haven’t done for a while, it brings you back to a different place when you get to do it again. (Let me know if you’ve experienced this before!)
For me, it was remembering the joy acting brought me when I was younger. The excitement from landing an audition. The dreaded “call” I’d wait for in regards to a call back or an actual paying job.
I was offered membership to join the theatre company (I got the call on Thanksgiving day); but, I do think I will pass on the opportunity. They offer great training but require members to pay a $100 monthly fee. In a year, that’ll rack up to $1,200. For a working actor, the training pays for itself. It’s a steal in terms of training. It’s a reputable theatre. Great players in the industry, but I would feel it unfair of me to take the spot of an actual working actor who needs the training to make a living.
I do not think it’s for me. Maybe I’ll audition to be cast in a play instead of a company next time?
2. Martha and Snoop’s Potluck Dinner
With so many recipes to go through, Martha and Snoop made it easy to choose the best way to get f*cked up this Thanksgiving.
1. The Artist Cribs
Thank you to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art for reminding me on how much work I actually have to do to be as successful as these guys. In their Youtube series, The Artist Cribs, viewers get a behind-the-scenes look at the way some contemporary artists live their lives. I spent a good deal of my Black Friday shopping time watching these.
