Michael Barber’s Song Ladder is the Song the US Needs
Musician Michael Barber’s newest song, Ladder, is the protest song that America needs right now.
The song is another single released from his AHAYWEH album which was released as a full project in June, but only if you buy the entire album as a hard copy CD. Michael has been releasing songs from the album with each songs revenue donated to a different charity.
Barber made news when his song, Quiet War, was endorsed by the President in a letter. Now Barber is making news again with the release of his song, Ladder. The hook is catchy, and had me singing along with it by the second time it came on during the first listen.
“Go on build the wall, it don’t really matter/It could be so tall, we gonna bring a ladder”
The song starts with revised lyrics from Woody Guthrie’s original version of “This Land is Our Land”, along with a whistle that is the best whistle on a song since Scorpions “Wind of Changes” or “Patience” by Guns N’Roses, whichever came out last.
The second verse takes almost a sarcastic look at America with funny and realistic lyrics such as, “confederate loser flags flying out the doublewide,” and “American red hats made by the Chinese.”
This is the protest song America needs right now as we deal with an administration that is doing a ton of things that need to be protested. Bravo to you Michael Barber for writing the best song of 2018, and to the rest of America, please support this song!
