What can you do for the Judoon?

If you are a Doctor Who fan you have probably seen reference to the Judoon, an alien race the Doctor has had frequent run-ins with. Unlike many of the alien species the Doctor encounters, (such as the Cybermen or the Daleks), the Judoon can actually be reasoned with. Their thinking is rigid and formalized, but if you don’t get on their bad side there are occasions where you can peacefully work together with them to solve pressing problems.

A good example of this is in the Doctor Who novel by Colin Brake, Judgement of the Judoon. If you have picked up any of the newer series of Doctor Who novels this one is worth considering. I found it quite enjoyable.

But what’s the actual point of this article?

JFK told us back in 1961 that we should “Ask not what your country can do for you…” but instead ask the reverse. At the time it was a way to promote humanitarian causes like the Peace Corps and get the population around backing large scale projects to change the world and create a positive future, such as furthering popular support for the space program and putting humans on the Moon and beyond…
