To put it simply: All forms of addiction are a byproduct of lack of human connection. Video games, themselves, can be argued to be such an addiction. As a non-gamer, it’s hard for me to make the leap to consider that such a tiny piece of a massive ecosystem that encourages human disconnection can be said to be more destructive and addicting than some other tiny piece.
Nonetheless, this is an important conversation- how to we shift our culture so that we both do not have “predatory corporations” nor the “disconnected, addicted individuals” who patronize them?
