I have wanted to start blogging for nearly a year and a half. But what do I write about?

At first I thought I’d talk about my journey to becoming a freelance web designer and hopefully one day getting a job as such. But within 1 week of having this idea and writing a draft for my first post, I realised that I didn’t want to just become a Web Designer. I wanted to be a designer; web design, graphic design, UX design, UI design, interior design, clothing, photography. I love design of all forms (that doesn’t mean I’m good at them) and putting a label on that caps my potential. I love options.

Where do I put my blog? I have too many options. I could host it here, on medium where I’d compete with the thousands of other writers who are far more capable at writing than I am. I could post on tumblr, blogger (just kidding), twitter, Facebook, WordPress, my own custom WordPress website, my own website without WordPress and the list goes on. I’ve decided to go with medium.

How do I write a blog post? I have no f-ing clue. All I know is that I want to write a blog. Not for views, or website visits or money or attention. I want to do it to improve my writing because, frankly, my writing blows.

My thinking goes like this: if I write an article per week, that’s 52 articles in 1 year. It gives me 6 days to figure out what to write about and it gives me 1 day to actually write and edit the article. That’s 52 days of writing and 312 days of thinking. A 1:6 ratio. Seema fair to me.

It’s 23 minutes after my 18th birthday. My girlfriend and 2 other friends just left my house and I’m sitting in bed writing something.

I don’t know what I’m writing, but I’m writing.

No, I’m learning.

That’s what matters.
