Thank you for the article Elizabeth. My understanding of U.S. Politics is at best vague though I try to pay attention and I think that I am getting to grips with it. I am a U.K. liberal and consider myself in the right place at the centre (sorry we have different spellings) of politics here. Yet your Liberals seem to settle to the left of your average Liberal here. I reside a little to the right of centre for the UK, believing in a free market democracy, with restraints, designed to protect the poor the disadvantaged and the economy.

I do not wish people to starve, suffer or fail where possible but realise (sorry British spelling again) that sometimes you cannot help people who do not wish to help themselves.

I have been long winded, my apologies, my question is; given your statements and the comments I have read on your post why does not a centre right wing party emerge to suit many there (and here in this forum)? Has America become even more decadent than (an elderly)Europe that is changing again and evolving (I do not think for the good but hey they always tell you that change is good.) when The U.S, is moving back within it’s own borders.
