You have no idea how long it took me to understand #9. It is a challenge even right now. As Stephen Covey said, there is a space between stimulus and response. That space matters. Something happens and you’ll have an automatic response, instinctual. The ability to pause just enough to take a productive approach (as most automatic ones tend to be harbored in fear, hate or generally, negative emotions) is priceless.
